    Hi there, for sites on our free plan (such as thesiloecom.wordpress.com) you are not able to set a custom address, and will see ads that we show on all free sites to help cover our costs. However, if you want to associate a custom domain with your site (and turn off the ads we show) you can do that by upgrading to our Personal Plan.

    This plan also includes expanded media storage (6GB) for all your image and audio files, as well as private email support as an option.

    Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    I upgraded but nothing changed. In my windows hosts file I have the following:

    localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    ::1 localhost

    Local by Flywheel – Start

    192.168.95.100 bmrc.local #Local Site
    192.168.95.100 http://www.bmrc.local #Local Site

    Local by Flywheel – End ##127.0.0.1 localhost

    ::1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost

    127.0.0.1 bmrc.test
    ::1 bmrc.test

    If I select “use a domain i own” and select “bmrc.test” I get the same error message OAuth2 token invalid

    Hi there,

    This is happening because you’re building your website locally on your computer. We at WordPress.com are a hosting provider. You can build your site online on our platform. There’s no need to do any local development.

    If you have already built your site locally, you can migrate it here by following this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/

    Now, if you prefer to keep working on your site locally on your computer, that’s fine. However, you’ll need to get help from the WordPress.org community. You can find them in this support forum: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    While both WordPress.com and WordPress.org share the WordPress name, they are two separate entities. WordPress.com is a hosting platform, while WordPress.org refers to the open-source WordPress software that can be installed on any host or locally.

    That is possibly the most unhelpful reply I have ever seen for the following reasons:

    1. Why didn’t you say this in response to the original post?
    2. Why didn’t you says this in response to my decond post instead of teling me to spend money and upgrade?
    3. Why didn’t this become known after I posted another enquiry and got a detailed response from WordPress.com on exactly how to set up a local host?

    Thanks for wasting my time

    Hi @ryndit, we were working with the site address you mentioned in the original post. Sometimes people who intend to host here will think they need to do extra stuff locally to set up a site on our services. It sounds like maybe you didn’t mean to mention that site or use our services?

    Re: the WordPress.org community forums, have you tried searching for the error you’re getting? You can try searching the web for the error too. Chances are, someone else has faced a similar situation, so you may be able to find the solution that way.

    Another worthless reply. if you read the first line of the original post you would see that I am building a NEW site, the mention of the existing site is that is generated by your forum software.

    I am not a total moron, of course I have searched for this error message here, on WP.org and on the internet in general. You’re not being helpful WP.org don’t answer and all references on the net are for Facebook pages.

    Now either help me or leave me alone
