OBJ Box and blue text first half of first paragraph of a post.

    I usually write my posts in MS Word and then cut and past them to the wordpress editor. Lately, when I make a new post to my blog the title and the URL end up with an OBJ box at the end of them. How do I keep this from happening? Also, with most of the posts I make, the first half of the first paragraph ends up blue, like it’s a link (but there is no link there). This has happened before and I usually just recopy the text that’s blue from my MS Word file and paste in it to replace the blue text and that fixes it. Tonight’s post, when I tried to do that, I got an error message that said this block suffered an error and the first paragraph was hidden from me in the editor. Is there a way to prevent or fix the blue text?

    Hi there!

    This can happen due to copying the text from MS Word. Word processing programs like MS Word has a lot more ‘code’ going on behind the scene than editors for a website (like the WordPress.com Editor). So when you copy text from MS Word and paste them, those junk code is carried over, which sometimes breaks the formatting.

    A workaround is to make sure that you’re pasting it as plain text. If you’re on Google Chrome, the shortcut “CMD + Shift + V” will paste the source text without any kind of formatting or junk code that MS Word adds. I recommend pasting text that way to see if how it goes for you.

    As for your latest post, I see that there’s a <a> tag in the HTML which is causing the issue. If you open the post in the editor → click the three dots on the top right corner → Click Code Editor, you’ll see the entire post in HTML. In the HTML, you’ll notice a <a> tag and a </a> tag in the first paragraph. Please remove them, click “Edit code editor” near the top, and click “Update.” Here’s a screenshot for your reference: https://d.pr/i/W2kjrw

    Doing so will remove the unwanted HTML tag from the first paragraph and it will not be in blue anymore.
