Obtaining an existing WordPress

  Hi there guys,

  Just a quick one. I’ve got a new project I’d like to get set up however I have noticed the account has already been made by someone back in March of 2006; over nine years ago. The site that currently exists is completely inactive and displays the generic ‘Hello world!’ blog post.

  How would I go about obtaining this particular account?

  Hi there. I’m afraid there’s no way of getting that account. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

  The only option is to try and contact the owner of that blog if they have comments enabled or a contact form, and ask them to transfer the address to you, but it’s a long shot at best.

  Failing that, you’ll either need to register a different address, or try to register the one you want as a custom domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  Damn, that’s what I didn’t wanna hear. Thanks for your help though kokkieh. I’ve written a comment to his post so I’ll hope for the best. If worst comes to worst I’ll just come up with variations of the project name.
