Obtaining files for moving to a new host

Can you please tell me how to archive and/or create zip files associated with my planabrand site to also include the database files?
Please advise.

This guide will step you through the process of moving your blog to a WordPress.org instance. We also have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you.

Thank you but ‘This Guide’ does not tell me how to export my images (unless I missed something) to the new host. I already have the xml file. That is not what I need. How do I get the images and other do-da’s besides the xml?
Is this WordPress’s way of making money? Just asking.
-
The XML file contains everything you need. With regards to your images, when you import the XML file into your WordPress.org instance, you will have the option also importing the images from your WordPress.com blog.

BTW, coffeemanmatt – have you seen “To Much Coffeeman”? Don’t see that option with new host…

Not sure what you mean by ‘option….’ I want to bring the entire hierarchy over so that the images are read by the database. And this isn’t just about the images, it’s about all the other files that need to be brought over to godaddy that are not in the xml file. Sorry if I sound lame but I have spent the ENTIRE day and 1/2 of yesterday and still haven’t figured this out. Not through Godaddy either. What am I supposed to do? I don’t have income at the present to pay a happiness guide. Is that why it’s so hard to do this on my own; because WP wants me to pay for this person? PLEASE, … help

Ah, ok I understand now.
There’s actually no way to bring over system files, like WordPress itself or the theme.
You’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ and your theme http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/coraline separately.
Then, you can transfer your post, page, and comment content, followed by your media files, following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
The XML file does not actually include the media files itself, but it does include instructions for the new blog to download them from the old blog.

I’ve already downloaded coraline and uploaded to godaddy. Still don’t get it. How do I pull those images and other straggling files? When you say “followed by your media files” huh? The link does not tell me how. I just did what you suggested and I got an email saying it was done. It said “Happy Blogging” and gave a link to my wordpress site… SO what did it actually do?
These are the only instructions I see in the xml file – I don’t see anything about images and other files:
!– This is a WordPress eXtended RSS file generated by WordPress as an export of your blog. –>
<!– It contains information about your blog’s posts, comments, and categories. –>
<!– You may use this file to transfer that content from one site to another. –>
<!– This file is not intended to serve as a complete backup of your blog. –><!– To import this information into a WordPress blog follow these steps. –>
<!– 1. Log in to that blog as an administrator. –>
<!– 2. Go to Tools: Import in the blog’s admin panels (or Manage: Import in older versions of WordPress). –>
<!– 3. Choose “WordPress” from the list. –>
<!– 4. Upload this file using the form provided on that page. –>
<!– 5. You will first be asked to map the authors in this export file to users –>
<!– on the blog. For each author, you may choose to map to an –>
<!– existing user on the blog or to create a new user –>
<!– 6. WordPress will then import each of the posts, comments, and categories –>
<!– contained in this file into your blog –> -
When you chose to upload the file via Tools -> Import in your self-hosted blog, there was a checkbox to “Download and import file attachments” which appeared after uploading the import file.
Checking this would have brought in all of the images and media files from your WordPress.com blog.
Unfortunately, this is a one-shot deal. If you imported without checking this option, you’ll need to delete everything and try again.
