"Occasionally, some of your visitors may see an advertisement here."

Hello. Saw this on a few of my posts two weeks ago: “Occasionally, some of your visitors may see an advertisement here.” Have since seen ads on a few entries, but none in the past week-and-a-half, even though the message still remains.

What’s the deal? Is this Wordads? (I applied for it months ago and hadn’t heard back.) Or is this something else? Will I now be getting monthly compensation?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unless you have the No Ads upgrade, WordPress.COM has been running ads on blogs since 2006, that is part of how they pay the bills and give you a “free” blog. It is in the Terms of service you agreed to

The “Occasionally……” was added because many people did not read the TOS and did not know the ads were on their site, you don’t see the ads when you are logged in

Will I now be getting monthly compensation?

No – but your basic blog and hosting is free – that is your “compensation”

Okay. So then if Wordads decides to approve my blog, then they’ll also add advertisements?

If you are accepted into WordAds, the ads I referred to will go away and be replaced with a single WordAd per Post (net less ads I have been told) and everyone will see the WordAds, even those that are logged in
