odd problem with 301 Redirect to (not from) WP.com
-
I recently moved my self-hosted WP blog to WP.com and am trying to set up a 301 redirect on the old host. Internal links and links to posts seem to work fine, but if I try to go to the main domain (in this case, http://firewatching.com/itsara/), instead of redirecting me to the new blog (http://itsarablog.wordpress.com), it sends me to the new domain but an old post (http://itsarablog.wordpress.com/2004/12/21/itsaras-new-home/).
My .htaccess file has only this line: “Redirect 301 / http://itsarablog.wordpress.com/”. Anyone have any ideas what’s wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Okay, well I feel dumb. Not because it was an easy fix, but because I solved it myself 2 minutes after asking for help.
The command “Redirect 301 / http://itsarablog.wordpress.com/” was actually redirecting people to http://itsarablog.wordpress.com/itsara, which WP.com was then interpolating to be the old blog post.
I fixed it by changing the redirect command to: Redirect 301 /itsara/ http://itsarablog.wordpress.com/
