Odd referrals from a blocked/filtered IP
-
My blog, http://eadvocate.wordpress.com, is receiving hits from this wierd referrer today:
10.0.0.205:15871/cgi-bin/blockOptions…
It says that the referrer does not exist when I click on it. I can not access the rest of the link description as WordPress stats cuts it off. I have googled what this means and there are random explanations, but one is a bit worrisome: Someone is trying to access my home IP, but I doubt this is the case. Others say my blog url could be filtered. Minimal percentage, though I have a post regarding the human rights violations in Iran. Not G rated, but PG like my last post on the rape crisis in the Congo.
Any ideas? Thanks.

any IP address starting with “10” is owned and reserved by the IANA and never will be assigned to anyone. See this page from IANA’s site for an explanation and some suggestions about what might be happening: http://www.iana.org/abuse/ .

Called my internet provider. They said it is probably just someone using a proxy- given censorship issues that is no biggie. The only way our IP info would be available for hacking is if WordPress remebered it for log-in, but our log-in/form data/passwords would be held in our browser’s memory.
