Odd Spam

A couple of my readers experienced a problem when they tried to go to my site. Bad spam came up rather than the site the first time around. I tried it on a couple different devices and had a couple similar results. Is this normal? What should I do about it?

We’ll need more information than “bad spam”. What exactly is happening? Are the visitors seeing pop-up ads? For what product/website? Do you have a screen shot of any of the ads so we can see exactly how it looks? On which devices are you seeing these pop-ups?
WordPress.com does not serve any pop-up ads, so if these are pop-ups they’re not coming from us. There has been an increase in pop-up spam on iOS devices recently, that is caused by adware running in the Safari browser. To get rid of that you need to set your device to airplane mode, force quit Safari, then restart Safari and completely clear the browser cache and history before disabling airplane mode again.
That should stop the pop-ups from appearing, but for good measure you should also set your device to automatically block pop-ups in future.
