Odd things in my blog stats

I was looking at my blog stats, and under “Top Posts” it listed a post titled “272”. I hadn’t titled a post that, but I thought maybe I forgot a title. So I clicked on the post title, and it took me to a post I just finished a short while ago called “Motherhood Advice.” The post by that title was also listed separately. And the “272” post that links to “Motherhood Advice” was listed in yesterday’s top posts with 7 viewings — even though I just started it and posted it today. I clicked on the Historical post stats link for the “272” post for yesterday, and instead of having the chart with the line that goes up and down corresponding to viewing history, it has a bar chart that has “Region A” in gold and “Region B” in blue, and the years 2003, 2004, and 2005 across the bottom. and the numbers 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 up the left side of the chart. I took a picture of it but then realized I don’t know how to post it here.

This isn’t a complaint — just an oddity I wanted to mention. Any idea what’s going on there?

WordPress automatically assigns a number to each post you make. Setting that aside there appear to be other concerns about stats too. I believe staff are working on this now.

You usually see a number if you’ve deleted a previous post but someone goes looking for it. Since WP doesn’t have a record of that post anymore, that’s how it shows up.

I did delete a post this week, so that makes sense — though it’s strange the link goes to a later post.

drmike, what about the strange chart on the post’s historical stats link?

Not a clue. I haven’t looked at those charts yet.

I see a number in the recent posts widget if I forget to put a title on the post.

nosysnoop: That’s the intended behavior and unrelated to this issue.
