odd words appearing in my username box

Recently when I open the wordpress login page, words, that sometimes look like Russian or other symbols, flash onto the screen in the username box. I took a screen shot and the ‘Language’ also appears in other areas in the login box as well. Can anyone tell me what’s happening and why? Is someone trying to hack the login? Thanks, Catherine

No it’s not. Everything else is in English
The Russian flashes on and off so
quickly if I wasn’t watching the screen
I’d miss it. -

It’s likely due to a cached translation in the Edge browser. Try to log into WordPress.com using a different browser than Edge and see if you have the same error.
If not, please first try clearing Edge’s browser cache by following the steps here and see if that fixes it.
If that doesn’t fix it, check your browser’s language settings to see if there’s been an exception made for WordPress.com or if a specific language has been set for WordPress.com.
