Oembed not working when using YouTube URL
-
I am in the editor and thought I would be able to just cut and paste the YouTube URL and be able to see the video within the editor. I only see the text and video does not launch until I preview it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I found in tests that if you copy and paste just the video URL into the content of a page (or post) the video player will display. Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDqaLL8yKUo
However, if you intentionally or accidentally add alignment tags to the URL it will only display as a link. Examples:
<p style="text-align:left;">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDqaLL8yKUo</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDqaLL8yKUo</p> -
I never ever copy and paste. I use the youtube shortcode https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode and it has never (not even once) failed me on any of my blogs.
Troubleshooting. Make sure the YouTube link is not hyperlinked. Read more here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#troubleshooting

That is normal behavior.

Thanks, timethief.
I misread the OP. Thought she meant the video wasn’t displaying publicly.I never ever copy and paste.
I’d like to ask you about that sometime. I probably copy and paste a hundred times or more a day. When embedding a video, though I seldom if ever copy and paste the video URL, I do copy and paste the embed URL found below the video at YouTube.

All I copy and paste is the youtube link like the example:
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaNH56Vpg-A] -
