Off site hosting and unable to change name server records

So I’m setting up off site hosting at DreamHost, and I have the nameserver records that they provided. I don’t necessarily need to transfer my domain registration yet, since it hasn’t been 60 days; but I want this domain to point to my new hosting site.
How do I do this?

If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.
