OFFENDING ADS AND UNAUTHORIZED LINKS IN MY POSTS
-
I tried to edit a post and was bombarded with offending ads at the top of the screen and an ad on the side that is offensive in the extreme of a woman taking her top off. If you are going to put ads on here, please make them something that a child can see – not something so perverted.

Please also note that it’s possible for ads to appear in your browser that were not placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser. WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. If you are seeing those then see here:

All of WordPress.com ads are family-friendly. If and only if the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts and you see this small About These Ads link http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/ what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising.
If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it, upload it via Media -> Add New to your Media Library. Then return to this thread to post the file name to let Staff them know it’s there for them to view.

Did the ads have “About these ads” beside them? Because if they don’t, then they are not put there by WordPress.com. If you don’t want the ads placed by WP.com, buy the No Ads upgrade.
If those ads are NOT from WordPress.com, then they are from a browser extension that you have enabled, and the solution is to find out which one it is and delete it.

Thank you for your input. I had only seen them on WordPress and so assumed, wrongly, that they were ads coming from there. I apologize for my assumption and want to tell you that from your advice, I began a search of other areas – google, hotmail, internet explorer – and soon found the ads popping up in all areas. I began looking more closely at the ads and discovered that they were from an app that came with a photo program that I had downloaded without realizing there were any hidden apps in it. I have since uninstalled the program and so far have no more ads popping up.
Again, I apologize and thank you for your assistance.
