Offensive Content?
-
I didn’t know where to post this, so please bare with me.
First, I’d like to thank WordPress support for helping me gain access to my admin panel for my blog. I chose this place for because it has a better and more intelligent community than Blogger. Plus, I needed a place to vent that wouldn’t violate my free webhost’s TOS and get my website deleted.
But that’s not why I’m posting. You see, as stated above, I intend to treat my blog like a personal journal where I can vent my frustrations about society and such. Because of that, the question I am asking is this: in terms of offensive content, how far can I go and what governs deletion based on OC? For example, say I write something about animal rights, and someone really hates what I say and decides to flag my blog for deletion. Will you guys delete my blog just because someone doesn’t like what I say?
The TOS isn’t really clear on this, as it says that when I make a post I assert that “the Content is not obscene or libelous, and does not violate the privacy or publicity rights of any third party.” What is WordPress’s definition of obscene? I mean, I don’t plan on going on a racist tirade or posting porn everywhere (quite the contrary), but could I get away with a few swear words? Or is that too over the top?
WordPress 2.0.5 is out of the question because I don’t have any money for a web server to host it on and I don’t have a spare system to host the free Apache server.
I hope I didn’t offend anyone with this query, but I just want to know, because while looking for new webhosts I’m always checking the TOS to see how far I can go.
Thank you.

No.
If the content really was OTT then we could mark the blog as ‘Mature’ so it was hidden from the various listings and tag pages we have.
You also have the option of making the blog private if you wanted.Swear words? Some topics are emotive and while we know swearing isn’t big or clever sometimes those words fit just right :)
I can’t see why you shouldn’t grab a blog and start writing.
