Offline app
-
I recently installed the wordpress.com app on my laptop (Linux, Ubuntu 16.04). It works fine except the one thing that matters most — if I have no internet connection, I can’t save, nor can I access any draft other than the one I had open when my web connection closed. So it is just like editing through the browser.
There must be a setting somewhere for this… anyone know?

Hello!
A number of offline editing apps are available such as Windows Live Writer or MarsEdit 3 for Mac
This guide has a list of others, and more info regarding offline editing for your blog : https://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/
I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks, Joe.
I was actually trying to ask a narrower question.
I have installed the Official WordPress.com app from the support link you included. But it does not work unless I have an internet connection.
. That is the issue.I was hoping there is a setting through which I can change this.

Hi there,
The WordPress.com app does not currently have an offline mode. It’s a feature we want to add going forward, but for now the app requires that you’re connected to the internet.
The mobile apps can be used offline.

OK, thanks. I suggest you put a note to that effect — maybe in red — on the help page (https://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/).
Really, the only trouble with editing through my web browser is web delays. So I’m sure I’m not the only one to go looking for the app purely because of a desire to work offline, and right now it is hard to note the absence of that feature.
No big deal, just a suggestion. I’ll check back from time to time to see if the feature has been added.

That’s great feedback, thanks. I’ll see about updating that page, and I’ve added your request to our open feature request for this.
