  Given the 4 offline editors mention on WP;

  Ecto
  MarsEdit
  Bits
  Blogo

  is there a recommendation that anyone would care to make?

  No prob. I simply copy and paste new posts into the Text editor. Then I don’t have to fuss with any residual formatting.
