Offsite Redirect upgrade VS Domian Mapping upgrade

I am planning to buy a domain and hosting. I will be shifting to WordPress.org. I want the traffic that my WordPresss.com blog gets (current blog) to be redirected to my new domain with hosting and not just redirect to homepage but to the exact page that the user is looking for.

Traffic means Organic Traffic (Google, Bing et al) and referrals and people who open my blog by entering the old URL (WordPress.com) directly in the adress bar. From what I see, I need to buy an upgrade “Domain Mapping”.

But a new upgrade called “Offsite Redirect” was also introduced. What is the difference between the two? (I know Offsite Redirect also helps in Organic Traffic)

I have read every support page including all announcements so please don’t redirect me to those. To achieve what I want do I need to buy both the upgrades?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The short answer: you want the Offsite Redirect.

For others who may wonder the same but haven’t been as thorough as you in digging up the information on the subject:
The Domain Mapping upgrade is for blog owners who still want to use WordPress.com for their blogging needs but would like to use their own domain name. These blogs are still bound by the WordPress.com TOS even if they don’t say “WordPress.com” in the address.

The Offsite Redirect upgrade is for blog owners who are leaving WordPress.com entirely to host their blog with a different webhost. This insures that if someone finds a link on the web to your old WordPress.com site, WordPress.com will redirect them to the corresponding page on your new website.

Oh a couple of more things:

Both the above upgrades have an annual renewal. But, in the case of Offsite Redirects, the redirect protocol now being used by WordPress.com is a 301 redirect i.e. a permanent redirect. This is great news as far as search engines go.
