Oh No!! :s

I had a blog at http://www.espressomachinesreviewed.com. I noticed that wordpress 2.9 was available so before downloading it I backed up my site. I thought that to do this I would simply have to open up my ftp client and transfer everything from the site directory to my hard drive.
I then auto-updated and some things stopped working properly. I therefore replaced everything with what I had saved to my hard drive and now I get nothing, zip, nada when I visit the url.
I have probably done something stupid. But what I want to know is if there is ANY way to recover the site from what I have :s

I will officially love whoever helps me with this (so please be ok with that before you reply!)

    David
