OK to use my API key when I’m building a site for someone else?

  I’m building a site/blog for someone else. Is it OK to use my API key to activate the Akismet plug-in? If it is not OK, how do I generate a new API?

  It would technically work, but my suggestion is to have the client sign up for an account only here (no blog) and then use their API.

  I’ve never seen anything by staff saying that would not be allowed, but then I can’t ever remember it being asked before.

  You might want to wait till Monday after support is again open and then contact them directly at http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ .
