Ok, wordpress, I've got problem with ya

First thing first. Simpla was ALWAYS theme without header. Literally, just plain text in white background. No header. And now it’s there. And I can’t see a way to delete it. So I need help. And goal is no header simpla theme. I don’t need lame and ugly random images in my blog supposed to be a gallery of my artworks. Header distracts and ruins mood.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s odd if a header image has appeared unannounced. I too use the simpla theme without a header. Try going here and removing the image.

Or you guys tell me I need to pay to remove this silly header image? If so, my experience withwordpress is over and it’s time to say bye.

Hi @povsuduvolosy,
I am very sorry for the trouble here. We recently made some changes to the way custom headers work with themes, and I think that could be behind the change you noticed.
I’m going to chat with our team directly about this and will get back to you soon.
-
Just now I changed theme so it looks close to one I used to. Anyway, changes are useful sometimes. Sorry for being rude, just a bit stressed right now.

@povsuduvolosy
I’m sorry if the link didn’t work. Did you actually try wp-admin customise and header image before you resorted to changing themes.@siobhyb
I use the simpla theme too. I know it’s “retired” but I prefer it to all the newer ones. Are these “changes” even going to affect retired themes. Am I likely to find a random header image appearing on my site? thanks -
@povsuduvolosy: That’s completely understandable! The fault is on our end. Changes we make should never affect existing content on your site and I’m very sorry that it did in this case.
A bit more information on the change: We added a selection of seven default header images to the “Suggested” area under the Header panel of the WordPress.com Customizer about two weeks ago. The change should not have triggered a header to appear on sites that didn’t already have one set.
Can you let me know when you first noticed the change? If you would like to switch back to Simpla, please feel free to do so and we will figure out a way to remove the header for you.
@themagicrobot: A header image should not randomly appear on your site at any point in the future.
I’m still working to track down exactly what happened here but it’s useful to know that this isn’t a wide-spread issue with Simpla. Thank you for posting here. :)

Hi @povsuduvolosy,
We tracked down the cause of the sudden change on your site:
Each theme has a built in option to display a random custom header. This option is normally set to false by default. In Simpla, however, this option is set to true.
As there were no custom headers, no header was displayed despite the aforementioned option being set to true.
When we introduced the suggested custom headers, the option to display random custom headers in Simpla meant that they automatically displayed on your site.
@themagicrobot: You’d previously uploaded and then manually removed a custom header, so the option was set to “false” on your site, which is why the suggested headers were not displayed.
@povsuduvolosy: If you had kept using Simpla, the fix would have been to click the button to stop randomising suggested headers in the WordPress.com Customizer.
I’d encourage you to consider carrying on with your new theme, however, as, unlike Simpla, it’s built to adapt based on the size of the screen it’s being viewed on.
That said, the team are looking into a fix for the Simpla issue and I truly do apologise for the sudden change to your site.
-
@themagicrobot: I can see that you have the WordPress.com mobile theme enabled. The theme you’re therefore seeing when you visit your site on your phone is separate to Simpla. We designed it especially for use with themes, like Simpla, that don’t automatically resize/adapt to different devices.
It isn’t necessary to use the mobile theme with other, more up-to-date themes, in our repository. Instead, those themes will automatically adapt and retain their core design.
Hope that’s clear. :)
