You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.
If you don’t understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

I was wondering. The 10tree blog is self-hosted anyway. Do they have foreign language forums for .ORG?
I really wish they would somewhere here, and at .ORG list all the foreign language forums so that we could point people to those pages. I’ve requested that numerous times here, but my requests have fallen on deaf ears I assume. After all, why would you want to make it easier for someone to find a forum in their own language???

I don’t believe they have.

That’s not new, my friend… after all we’re just mere volunteers.

maybe I misunderstood you in your previous post. If you were referring to having a list of localize support forums, wp.com does have them, but I don’t think wp.org does.
One thin I would do is a redirect based on IP Address, those coming from Brazil or Portugal would be redirected to http://pt.forums.wordpress.com, etc.
Those IP addresses whose location is “unknown” would default to these forums.

Gawd no. No redirects based on IP. Let the user choose his/her language preference for the home site. As it is, I already see my obvious alternate language choice right at the top of the COM homepage. That’s enough.

Well, I wasn’t talking about the home site but the forums…

As was I. :-)
In any event my “native” language forum link redirects to the English forum, probably because there isn’t a forum in my native language (or at least the “natiive” language WordPress.com picks up because of my IP).

oh, okay. Since the language dropdown list you speak of exists on the home page (https://wordpress.com) – and which I assumed you were referring too when you said “home site” – and not on the forums (http://forums.wordpress.com), I misunderstood you.
Yes, probably they’re doing something like that already. My initial thought of redirecting a person to the “right” forum based on their IP Address was to prevent someone from Brazil or Portugal (like the OP) to post their questions in the wrong forum in case they typed the forum URL directly into their browser’s address bar (personally, I come to the forums by doing exactly that).
Also, instead of redirecting people to the “correct” forum would be adding across the forums a dropdown language list like the home page has… or a row with a bunch of flags linking to their respective forums…
Anyway, who knows if something like that would be implemented here. In the past, all the recommendations I’ve given have been nicely ignored, so this one just adds to the list. ;)
