old account, reactivate?

  Hi, I used to have an account and life kind of took over and I my membership lapsed. I am wondering if there is a way i can reactivate it and have access to all my old posts/blogs and if I can restart the membership. The account closed about 3 years ago. I look forward to any help you can give me.

  What is the address of the site you are referring to? Is this site/account hosted with us on WordPress.com or was the blog self-hosted?

  Hmm…. I do not see any record of that domain having been used on WordPress.com.

  Did you have your site with another hosting provider instead? It is possible you had a self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.

  We would not have any records on WordPress sites hosted with other providers, but if you can recall the name of your host I recommend reaching out to them to see if they still have the site data in their internal backups.

  oh my gosh i’m sorry, it is chasethesmile.today not .com

  I believe it was through word press. My cousin set it up originally.

  Hi Katie,

  I cannot find any records of that site on WordPress.com. Please ask your cousin what hosting provider they used and then contact that host.

  Not especially, because that would be the login for your site if it was still online.

  Additionally, the domain chasethesmile.today does not appear to be registered, so you should check back with your cousin to see:

  1. What hosting provider they set your site up with. This could be Bluehost, Siteground, HostGator, etc.

  2. Where they registered your domain. Domains need to be renewed on an annual basis, so that’s another item that you may need to reinstate.

  3. What, if any, backup solution they set your site up with. If they did not set your site up with any type of backup and the hosting provider you had also does not have a backup of your site, your data is likely lost.

  Does that help? Since your site was never hosted with nor was your domain ever registered with us here at WordPress.com, there’s nothing else we can help with here.
