Old account removal

    Hiya.
I represent a society which has a free website host with wordpress. The wordpress website is no longer in use and hasn’t been in use for about 3 years or more. We as a society no longer have access to the wordpress account which made the website, nor do we have (or are we able to find out) the email address which made the account. This is because it was made long ago and the information has been forgotten as people have moved on from the society.
We no longer wish for the wesbite to show up in web results because the information is old and outdated. We need the account to be deleted because we no longer have access to it. How do I go about doing this? There is little to no information on the website bar some outdated and irrelevant info about our society. However, the only help services available are for paid wordpress accounts: out account was not a paid account and, even if it was, we no longer have access to the account from which to request help.

We want to delete the wordpress pages made in the name of our society 3 years prior. How do we go about doing this?
    Thanks

    Hi there,

What is the URL to the site in question?

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

Ideally with this type of situation, we would recommend that you try and recover the account to locate an email inbox connected to a WordPress.com account, so that you can send a password reset.

Alternatively, if you’re able to provide an activate URL, which was sent when the account was created – this can be used to help aid with account ownership verification.

It sounds like this may be difficult to establish, but if you’re able to conduct some detective work this will put you in good stead in recovering the account.

Outside of that, please see this guidance on when an account can’t be recovered: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#if-ownership-cannot-be-established

    I hope this helps.
