Old address not reusable
-
I have been using yanbinfeng.wordpress.com as my blog address for a long time, and because I want to reserve it as my portfolio address instead, last night I changed my blog address to yfengus.wordpress.com and discarded the current address. However, when I attempted to sign up a new blog using yanbinfeng.wordpress.com again, the system said “that site already exists”, but direct access to yanbinfeng.wordpress.com shows that this address is still unoccupied. Could anyone tell me why this will happen? Thanks!

See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
and http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Note that deleted blog URLs here are not recycled and no exceptions are made. That’s why 3 warnings are given and why a verification link in an email that must be clicked is sent in order to accomplish deletion. You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
