Old Blog Got Deleted, Wondering About My Options?
-
Hello all.
I had a WordPress blog which was hosted through WebAir, and a friend was taking care of that hosting for me.
Well, it turns out it was actually a friend of this friend who was doing it (it doesn’t make much sense, but…) and they decided they were sick of paying for it and deleted the hosting / blog / ??? I’m not entirely sure what went on, but my blog is gone and seems unrecoverable.
My question is this. Now, when I try to log in to WordPress, it doesn’t recognize my user/password. Is this because I’m not logging in through my blog itself?
Also, would any of the content be somewhere within WordPress? I still have my domain name, and am going to start setting up a new blog there shortly… but I just wanted to make sure there was no way to recover my old blog content before I began this adventure… and why I can’t log in with that blog’s user/password.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you!

Your self-hosted wordpress site through WebAir is/was not connected to wordpress.COM in any way. Unless that person did a complete backup of the site, or at the very least the database, or perhaps did an export of the content, then it is gone.
It could be that you could find some of the content cached in the search engines and do a copy paste of it into plain text files or something like that.

Thanks for the reply. Someone did recover all the text from the blog for me via caches and archives… so now I must start the rebuilding process it looks like. I appreciate you taking the time to reply, now I know where to start. Square one!
Cheers.
