We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
We also have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
If you have any feedback on the new editor, we’re always looking for ways to improve it, so please let us know!

Hi. I would miss it if it were gone, but it’s not gone, just hidden. WordPress.com has a habit of hiding, or making difficult to access, things that they want to discourage its members from using.
I’ve never stopped using the WP-Admin editor, aka the “Classic Editor.” The Classic Editor is still available to all WordPress.com users, and it’s still free. Here’s the Classic Editor support page, and the recently revised How to Access the Classic Editor section of that support page.

The classic editor won’t be around forever, so generally we’re trying to encourage folks to use blocks and report any issues or pain points.
The recent change had nothing to do with the block editor. It was about making navigation consistent between wp-admin and Calypso. Those who prefer wp-admin are hopefully enjoying the switch once they toggled their preference, but if you’re having any remaining issues, please let us know.
