Old deleted site appearing on Google search

  Hello! I deleted my WordPress site because it had a virus that I found impossible to get rid of. I now have a new site but the old one is appearing first on Google searches (despite being a link to a ‘page not found’). Does anyone know how to remedy this? I can’t log in as admin anymore because I deleted the site! Thanks in advance!

  Thanks for those details.

  I think you are going to need to contact Google about getting that specific page out of their index.

  For what it’s worth, the page doesn’t actually work and gives an error (as expected).

  When I visit your site I do not see a WordPress.com page either. It looks like you are now using Wix based on the public DNS information I’ve found.

  Yes, the issue isn’t the content, just that it comes up on Google when it doesn’t exist. Thank you – I’ll contact Google.
