Old editor?

  • Unknown's avatar

I must say I really hate the new post creator with the blocks. Is there a way to still use the old editor? My issue is specifically with the images. I used to create posts with images both at full size and half size. The half size images I could place side by side and have each linked to their own web page. I can’t do this with the gallery setting… not to mention that I can’t seem to get the gallery images to align with the rest of my page properly so it looks weird. My other issue is that I can no longer copy my blog post page and paste it into my newsletter as is. I now have to fix spacing and alignment, etc.

Please tell me there is a way back! I just want to type a post, add images, and see what I’m getting, with alignment and all, without having to keep going to preview mode. Thanks!

    Hi, @ponytailsdesigns
Maybe this image can help you:

I actually don’t have that in my drop down box. It ends at options. Any other suggestions?

  • Hi there,

On what site are you working? Your WordPress.com site at http://ponytailsdesigns.wordpress.com/ does not have the block editor active – that editor is opt-in for existing sites on WordPress.com, so you’ll only see it if you specifically enabled it.

If you don’t see the option to switch back to the classic editor, it means you’re looking at the editor on a WordPress site with another hosting provider. If you’re using the open source version of WordPress rather than WordPress.com, for example your Jetpack connected site, https://ponytailsdesigns.com/, you need the Classic Editor plugin to disable the block editor on your site:

I’ve actually got it resolved from another thread and I was able to switch back to the classic. I’m actually using a self-hosted site so was in the wrong place. Thanks for replying!

  • Ah, thanks for the followup. Cheers :)
