    Hi,

I can’t get into managing our website as it is linked to an old employees email address!

does anyone have any helpful info getting this resolved?

Hi @otapley, I’m not staff, just a community member.

If the site is linked to an old employee’s email, only WordPress.com staff can help update account ownership. Please contact them directly here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact.

Make sure you have proof of ownership (like payment receipts, domain registration, or business documents), as staff will need verification before granting access.

Hi there @otapley, since you haven’t shared the address of the site you need help with, I’m sharing information relevant only to sites hosted on WordPress.com, the hosting platform. Your site may be hosted someplace else.

If you need to regain access to a WordPress.com account, you can follow this guide to account recovery. https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/

Regardless, WordPress.com staff do not update user account email addresses.

If your site is hosted someplace else, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider directly.

@mukeshoad If you see the tag wpcomhelp, that means the poster has already visited that page and submitted the form, which is then posted to the forums for free accounts.

Hi @justjennifer yes, I know it’s from wpcomhelp, but I just try to help where I can.

@mukeshoad thanks, again. Perhaps I didn’t explain clearly enough. When owners of free WordPress.com websites go to that contact page, the query they submit is sent to the community forums for help and the resulting forum thread created is automatically tagged with wpcomhelp.

Since in this case the original poster already submitted that form, there’s no benefit to having them to do it again. Hope that is clearer.
