Old Joomla site – > WordPress hosted on Bluehost

    Hello.
    I’m looking for some advice.

    I run a website for a nonprofit org. We host on Bluehost. The site is currently Joomla 1.6. I want to move the content into a new WordPress install.

    There are over 800 articles on the current site.

    My plan (because I have not found an easier way) is to copy and paste each article into the new WP install. There are associated graphics and multimedia and this will be a long process.

    Once I have done this I will delete the Joomla install, replace with another WP install and point it to the database of the WP install that I moved the content to. Then I will copy the multimedia folder(s) into the new directory.

    Two questions: Is all this feasible? + Can anyone suggest an easier way?

    NOTE: Although I have been goofing around with CMS websites for 16 years, I am still relatively untrained.

    That sounds very tedious. I’d suggest you look into whether Joomla provides an export file or even an XML feed that you could use instead.

    Thank you so much for the quick response. This has been hanging over me for several years now and I have tried a couple Joomla based migration tools that did not work. I have never tried a WP solution. I’ll give it a shot.
