Old list of subscribers
-
I haven’t posted anything on my blog in a long time, but I’m about to start up again. The thing is, I have subscribers (email-only followers) that I would like to delete. I don’t believe I can do that (?), so what other recourse do I have?
-
We don’t currently have a way to just purge subscribers. Keep in mind that, as long as the site is public, anyone could re-subscribe regardless.
If you’re looking for a fresh start, you might want to start with a new site: https://wordpress.com/new

Thank you macmanx. I could do a new site with the old domain?
How can I have a non-public site where subscribers have to be approved?
-
Ah, if you’re willing to make the site private, do that first:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/Then go here:
https://wordpress.com/people/email-followers/You can remove followers and they will not be able to re-add themselves if the site is private.

In the Privacy section of Settings, it says my site is visible to everyone, but I don’t see how to change it. There are not choices to make a change…

I might have bigger issues.. it looks like I need to do an update, but I have outdated PHP on my site. Originally I knew someone who could help me with these things, but I’m struggling over here…

Hi there,
Are you speaking of http://bikerr.us/? That site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. It is only connected to your WordPress.com account using the Jetpack plugin.
The open source WordPress software doesn’t have an option to make a site private. That feature is unique to sites hosted on WordPress.com. To make your site “private” you’ll need to use a maintenance mode or coming soon plugin instead. You can ask the WordPress.org community for advice on those at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
The PHP version on your server is controlled by your hosting provider, so please contact them directly for help with updating that.
