old/new site

  Hello!
  I will try to make a new website for my marsching band. We have a domain, but I dont want to exchange the new (your) for our old before I know how it works. If I construct this new site on our old domain, will it overwrite the old, or does it wait until I decide?

  Hi there,

  What you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. The site starts off private until you are ready to launch it.

  

  

  Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  map an existing domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Or even creating a new one:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
