Old post corrupted
-
Hi there,
A post from my blog (published Aug 2015) now looks corrupted when i am trying to edit it.
All of its backlog version are corrupt as well.
The post is truncated right after an embedded video, which is now unavailable (i would not know if that could be related to the truncation).
What may have caused this and is there a remedy?
Cheers,

Hi there!
The error message on the embedded YouTube video comes from YouTube itself. It’s not caused by anything on the post nor does it cause anything else on the post to break. I don’t see the video when I open the direct link on YouTube either.
I checked a few revisions of the post from way earlier (as early as 6 years) and I’m not seeing anything after the YouTube embed. Are you sure there was content after the video?
You can check the previous revisions by following the instructions here: https://wordpress.com/support/editors/page-post-revisions/
The post editor loads fine on my end and I don’t see anything corrupted there. If you’re seeing any error messages when trying to edit the post, please take a screenshot and upload it to your media library here: https://wordpress.com/media
We can then look at the screenshot to see what you’re seeing.

Thank you aisajib,
The post was a full-fledged one with lots of content after the embedded video, which has now disappeared and not as a result of my actions.
I also checked past revisions and they all seem to omit the post content after the embedded video which is strange and alarming.
Can you please suggest a way to resolve this? Or is it lost forever?
Cheers

Hello Rami,
I’ve taken a look at the post, along with it’s revisions and I too can’t see any content after the YouTube video.
What kind of content was there out of curiosity?
I’ve taken a look at web archive and I’m wondering if content added was in fact in this particular post to begin with, it may not have saved at the time of creation.
Is it possible that there’s content in two places perhaps?
Many thanks.

Thank you aleone89
For now i have removed the video as it’s just gone stale and has nothing to do with the issue.
I am going to verify this by trying to locate old WordPress backup i made during the years and see what’s in them.
Cheers
Rami
