Old posts are not viewable except for the first post

    I have been inactive for a few years and have just returned to WordPress, to maybe try out blogging again. I am trying to find some older posts I had made but for some reason, I am unable to view it. There’s only a message stating that the post is private and I need to be a member to view it.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    What site are you talking about as your site http://ignoracriliswordpresscom.wordpress.com/ is up and running and has only 1 post from 2016. But that post isn’t private.

    Hi! Ah I just looked at my old notifications and I think you’re right – seems like the older posts I made was on another site that doesn’t exist anymore maybe?

    Because when I try clicking on it from my notifications drop list, I get directed to this message:
    Private post
    This post exists, but you don’t have permission to read it.

    If it’s a post on a private site, you need be a member of the site to view the post.

    I’m just wondering if that means I deleted it and that’s why it’s like that?

    staff-sheva Ah hmm, okay I think I found the site address: https://ignoracrilis.wordpress.com – it says it has been deleted. I don’t recall deleting it though…I guess it’s fine then. Sorry for the trouble!

    Hi there @ignoracrilis

    Thanks for that site URL. I can confirm in your user activity log that you deleted this site about 5 years ago. When a site is deleted in this way, we usually have 30 days to reverse the deletion, but after that the site is removed from our service permanently.

    However, for some reason your site does not appear to have been removed from our service so I’ve been able to restore the site and return it to your account. You can see it listed here: https://wordpress.com/sites/

    I need to add though that even though we did not remove the site from our service all those years ago, it does appear that some content was deleted, specifically the images you uploaded. Normally it would not be possible to get any content back (and we have no way to recover the images) so I’m hoping that at least this is better than nothing.
