Old recurring event instances still displayed
-
This upcoming events page is powered by this google calendar ical link: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/prvfn7f0b4skrc333ddapobtog%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
The upcomingevents version of the calendar contains what seems to be old versions of the edited instances of recurring events (No Location set, different times, and no Description content).
If the web page changes I have a screenshot of what it looked like at the time of writing:

The upcoming events widget was updated today, and I think it fixes the issue you’ve described.
I looked at http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/ but I’m not sure which events are expected and which might old versions. Could you take a look and let me know if it’s working as expected after the update from earlier today?

Looking at http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/
it looks better now, than earlier today (as shown in the screenshot at http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/ ).What has improved compared to the screenshot, is that the three entries betwen the december 16 and december 18 entries are gone.
However, the current version still shows an entry 2013/12/19, kl. 17:30 – 19:30 that has no corresponding event in the underlying ical (there used to be an instance of a recurring event, but that instance has been deleted, and it was deleted yesterday (I think)).
The underlying ical, is: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/30g5kgtk9vfjqubn74ohoni31s%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

The entry from 2013/12/26, kl. 17:30 – 19:30 seen in http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/ is also deleted in the underlying ical (a second instance of the Thursday recurring appointment).

One suggestion: could you add an admin option to flush the cached information, and regenerate the upcomingevents from the underlying iCal?
(that would let us do self help when the calendar doesn’t match).
Right now this calendar is showing a non-existing event on december 26 17:30 – 19:30: http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/
And this calendar is showing two non-existing events for december 25 and december 26: http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/arsplan-u14-20132014/Both upcomingevents listings are missing many recurring events in the new year, only those recurring event instances that have been edited, are showing up.
The u12 underlying iCal is: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/prvfn7f0b4skrc333ddapobtog%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
The u14 underlying iCal is: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/30g5kgtk9vfjqubn74ohoni31s%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics -
I tried flushing the cache by removing the upcomingevents shorttag from the u12 page, saving the page, reloading the page in a web browser, then reinserting the upcomingevents shorttag, saving the page, and reloading the page in a web browser.
However, that didn’t help…:-/
In web search results I’ve seen some say that inserting a number=”somenumber” would fix the issue. So I tried that as well on the u12 calendar, but that didn’t help either.
Note that none of the recurring events are created using import/export. The recurring events are created directly in google calendar.

I’ve added this to our suggestion list for the next time the upcoming events widget is reviewed for new revisions.

Right now this calendar is showing a non-existing event on december 26 17:30 – 19:30: http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/
I checked https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/prvfn7f0b4skrc333ddapobtog%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics and compared it to the Dec 26 event titled “Skitrening” showing at http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/kalender-u12-20132014/
Here is the raw data for that event:
BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131212T173000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131212T193000 RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;BYDAY=TH;UNTIL=20140108T225959Z EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20140102T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131226T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131219T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131212T173000 DTSTAMP:20131216T165646Z UID:(email visible only to moderators and staff) CREATED:20131205T190147Z DESCRIPTION: LAST-MODIFIED:20131213T155354Z LOCATION: SEQUENCE:0 STATUS:CONFIRMED SUMMARY:Skitrening TRANSP:OPAQUE END:VEVENTI think the EXDATE lines mean those days should be excluded from the recurring event, and for some reason they are all excluded except for the Dec 26 one! I’m not sure why that’s happening, but I have reported the issue to our developers and included your ics file as an example.
And this calendar is showing two non-existing events for december 25 and december 26: http://hsilalpint.wordpress.com/arsplan-u14-20132014/
I checked https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/30g5kgtk9vfjqubn74ohoni31s%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics and tried to find the Dec 25 and Dec 26 events in the raw data, and I found this:
BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131211T173000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131211T193000 RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;BYDAY=WE;UNTIL=20140107T225959Z EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20140101T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131225T173000 DTSTAMP:20131216T170848Z UID:(email visible only to moderators and staff) CREATED:20131205T215009Z DESCRIPTION: LAST-MODIFIED:20131213T151755Z LOCATION: SEQUENCE:0 STATUS:CONFIRMED SUMMARY:Skitrening TRANSP:OPAQUE END:VEVENTBEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131212T173000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131212T193000 RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;BYDAY=TH;UNTIL=20140108T225959Z EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20140102T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131226T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131219T173000 EXDATE;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20131212T173000 DTSTAMP:20131216T170848Z UID:(email visible only to moderators and staff) CREATED:20131205T215053Z DESCRIPTION: LAST-MODIFIED:20131213T151639Z LOCATION: SEQUENCE:0 STATUS:CONFIRMED SUMMARY:Skitrening TRANSP:OPAQUE END:VEVENTIt looks like the same problem in this case as well.
I have reported this issue to our developers, but I’m not sure when they may be able to get to this again. In the mean time, I would suggest having a look at the calendar again and trying to find any events titled “Skitrening” to see if you can figure out where the original one is hiding. I do see it in the .ics file, I’m just not sure if you’ll be able to find it in the calendar. If you can find it, deleting it should be a temporary workaround until the underlying issue can be resolved.
Thanks so much for working to provide specific examples, and apologies for the trouble!
