Old site name recovery

    I was interested in changing my site name, but it says the site name is in use. The site using the name has 2 posts from 2009 and nothing else. Is there a way to recapture this site name and free it up for someone who will use it? Site name is leadingfromwithin.wordpress.com.

    Hi there,

    We cannot recycle or reassign site addresses (URLs) which may appear to be abandoned. We respect bloggers’ ownership of their content and therefore will not move or delete a site without its owners consent — no matter how long it has been since their last update.

    In this case you will need to pick an available name from our system. You also have the option to upgrade to any of our plans, all of which include the ability to register a custom domain (without ‘wordpress’ in the URL) which may allow you to use your preferred address.
