old sites still active, but in limbo – want to start a new site but thwarted.

I have had a few wordpress sites. I would like to start another and try, again. however, wordpress doesn’t seem to be letting me do so. for instance, people can still subscribe to my old site, “owl and terrapin.” For instance, on my friends site, you can click on the link he provides to go right to my old site and choose to follow my page, even though nothing is visible – it’s all blank, because I deleted my site. here is my friend’s site, with the owl and terrapin link: http://crackingmyegg.wordpress.com/2014/03/15/yin-ish-or-yang-ish/

my username, “coralberries,” is still active, as well as my gravatar. I’m not sure I understand why. so, when I try to start a new site, it won’t let me because, well, I receive a notice that “that email is being used by someone else,” when in fact it is being used by me, yet for only sites that are deleted and which I can do nothing about.

can you help me by completely deleting my old sites, and allowing me to use my email address?

I would sincerely appreciate your help. without it, well … it’s just all weird. I’d like all my old sites gone. period. not in limbo, somewhere.

    sincerely, and thank you,

    j.e.glaze

Hi there, so a few things I noticed:

    1) Your friend linked to http://wordpress.com/read/blog/id/45654042/ instead of your actual site’s URL. The actual site had been deleted though, as you already mentioned. http://owlandterrapin.wordpress.com/ I think this is a bug; deleted site shouldn’t appear on the Reader. I’ve notified the Staff about this.

    2) Deleting sites did not delete your account as well. So this is likely why your account ‘coralberries’ is still active.

I am not quite sure what you want to use your email address for, but presumably to create a new username?

In that case, you might want to change the email address for the ‘coralberries’ account first. This article will show you how (see paragraph 2) http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/

Once you change ‘coralberries’ account’s email to something else, that will free up your original email address. You can then use that email to create a new username.

Was hfzrhmn able to sort everything out for you, or do you still need assistance? If so, please let me know what you’re still trying to sort out, and I’ll be happy to help you out.

jackiedana, actually, it’s not worked out. my old site is still supposedly deleted and unusable, yet it’s still visible (although all the entries are blank), which causes confusion because friends continue to follow that site, not realizing that it’s deleted.

also, I can’t use my email to start a new site because the old site is using that email. I’m not one for having multiple email addresses.

@coralberries, there don’t appear to be any websites now associated with your coralberries username.

You had the site neeshjaa.wordpress.com but it has been deleted and is not visible on the internet. Are you referring to a different site?

You can always create a new blog on your coralberries account by going to http://wordpress.com/my-blogs/

As far as your email is concerned, you will not be able to create a new user account with an email address currently associated with a WordPress.com or Gravatar account.
