Old Theme getting backed up with the backup.

    I have a website and I wanted to update the slider image but to do that we need to update the theme. When I backup my files and update the theme, and restore the files, the old version of the theme gets put back too. Can you tell me either how to backup everything without backing up the old version of the theme OR how I can downgrade my wordpress (I have the latest version) so that it will be compatible with the old version of the theme. Please note this is not for the website newprintca.wordpress.com, its for midorimarket.com.
