Old URL still in use
-
Hi,
Checked today’s stats and noticed that in “Referrers” my old “imageearthblog.com” was a referrer.
As I took this old URL out of all my posts last year, can you advise where this could have come from? I have a screenshot (blog.png) in my Media Library.
Many thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s in my Stats, which I’ve taken a screenshot of and in my Library.
The imageearthblog.com was my original WP site before I changed the name to imageearthtravel.com, so I’m not sure how this is being referred to these days as it was a couple of years’ ago.
How can I tell?

Hi there,
The full link for that referrer is imageearthblog.com.seocheckupx.net, so it’s actually the site, seocheckupx.net, that’s linking to your site, not your .blog domain.
It would appear someone looked up your site on that service, and that caused the referral stat you’re seeing.

imageearthblog.com was not accessed. That is the point. Someone accessed seocheckupx.net, and typed imageearthblog.com in on that site, and that is where the referral comes from.
imageearthblog.com also cannot be accessed, as in loading a site at that domain. You still own imageearthblog.com and it’s still connected to your site, so if anyone types that into their browser it automatically redirects to imageearthtravel.com instead, as that is your primary domain. But there is no way you can prevent people from typing imageearthblog.com in their browsers, from linking to or sharing that URL, or from typing it into services we don’t control.
