Old version of my wordpress.com site came up after transferring domain to new provider
-
Hi there,
I transferred my domain (the address my WordPress site pointed to) to a new provider and when I go to the original address for my WordPress site, I find an old version. What can I do to find the newest version?
Thanks!

Hello Eva
Did you transfer the site from WordPress hosting to another ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Are you trying to redirect away from WordPress, or are you trying to have a domain point TO WordPress od content hosted somewhere else?dave

@evaclear
What is the URL starting with http:// of domain that you refer to?
Are you referring to this URL https://thesensitiveuniverse.wordpress.com/?

Hi there,
Thanks for your messages. I transferred the domain to Squarespace and am building a site on their platform so I'm not trying to do anything with the WordPress site but I thought it would be available for reference and I'm only finding an old version. The URL is: http://sensitiveuniverse.wordpress.com/
Cheers,
Eva

Hi –
Once you canceled the domain mapping upgrade with us the domain https://www.evaneuhaus.com/ can no longer show the WordPress.com site. It is not connected any longer.
The old version of that site is still available under the .wordpress.com site address: https://sensitiveuniverse.wordpress.com/
You can export all of this content to use it on the new site as well. Here’s how you do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
I do see that https://www.evaneuhaus.com/ is showing your new SquareSpace site now.
Is there anything else I can help with?

Thanks for your help. I created .xml files before I transferred the domain, but they have errors in them; here’s a screenshot: https://share.squarespace.com/0t3i222D1F0s.
Is there a way to create an .xml file of the newest version of my site (not what currently appears at https://sensitiveuniverse.wordpress.com/)? I have an archive.zip file from 1&1 and an sql file as well.

The main thing I’d like to salvage is my blog; all the other content I can cut and paste easily.

Hi,
Where are you seeing this error? It is when you try to import your .xml file into Squarespace, or are you seeing it somewhere else?
-
Thanks for your message! I’m seeing the error message when I try to import the .xml file into Squarespace. I was able to access my site at http://s359704853.onlinehome.us/ and made new .xml files but those wouldn’t upload either.
-
At this point I’ve copied and pasted almost everything into Squarespace; the only thing that’s missing is my blog. If I could successfully create an .xml file for the blog so I could transfer it over, that would be fantastic.

Hi,
If you are seeing the error when trying to import the .xml file into Squarespace, I’d recommend contacting Squarespace. They should be able to provide more information about the errors — it may be an issue with their importer rather than your .xml file.
Let me know how you get on.
