Old Webiste I have no access to need to shut down

  Hi there,

  I have been trying for the last year to get an old website closed down. It was created by my partner we have combed through emails of the last 2 years to find any details about the account he set it up on/email addresses/ log ins everything but nothing has turned up. Its damaging my business and I need to site closed or blocked or anything as the information is old and putting off clients.

  I’ve tried to hire IT experts to do it for me but it all leads to needing the details of the wordpress account to be able to do anything – which I don’t have!!!

  Please can someone from wordpress help surely there is a way to have the website pulled down.

  wordpress.com just doesn’t delete websites on demand. Only the owner can do this.
  To restore access to the account connected to that site, go to https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/.

  HI There, Thank you so much for the link – yes I totally understand that. Trouble is I keep hitting a wall as we don’t have the details they ask for to restore the account. Is there anyone I can speak to on the one of a chat box about the situation from wordpress do you know – hoping I can prove who I am with other identity methods. Otherwise I’ll end up with a website online forever that’s damaging my business :/ any thoughts??

  I tried to fill out the recovery form earlier but the PayPal transaction I found was incorrect… That must have been for one of the other domains I managed to close.

  Yeah, that site is definitely owned by a different account, so we won’t be able to close it at your request here.

  staartmees is right that you should try https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

  Do you have the emailed receipt from the last time the domain was renewed, last November?

  Hey, just went through my partners account with him and we found a transaction to WordPress for that month!!! Filled out the recovery form with that information and it went through which is further than I got last time. Its been really helpful actually speaking to you all directly. Would you mind if I kept this thread open please for a couple of days, would be great to ask you questions if something else comes up. Furthest I’ve got in best part of a year… Thank you
