  Looking to help my wife and the company she works for. The owner had someone setup a wordpress free site. Its very outdated and they no longer are in contact with the original employee that created the site.

  1. How can the owner of the business take over the site
  2. Can we just have it removed? All the information is incorrect
  3. Can we take over the site and move it to a paid site to remove the wordpress domain and ads?

  Hi @sp210036,

  You cannot delete, change the ownership of, or edit a site without the owner’s consent.

  I would recommend contacting the employee who created the site, and asking him/her to either delete the site, or transfer ownership of the site using the instructions found on this page:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

  Once ownership of the site is transferred, you will be able to edit it and transfer it to a paid plan.

  Hi,

  Unfortunately the contact information we have for the former employee is no longer valid. Is there a legal process the business owner needs to take in order to file with wordpress that the site contains false information and needs to be taken down or ownership transferred to the legal owner of the business named on the website?
