Old WordPress Account

    Hello, This Word Press account was started by a former employee. I am having trouble shutting this account down because it is tied to a defunct website that was never launched. I am unable to shut down both because JetPack cannot be shut down via API. When we attempt to log into the site, none of our emails are showing as users, including the creator of the site. Is there anything we can do to detach from this account?

    If you have access to the site you can deactivate the Jetpack plugin. The plugin does not function without a connected account, so it sounds like you will not be needing it anyway.

    Also if you wish, you can follow the steps here to permanently close your account, which will delete all sites under that account as well as remove this account’s personal data from our service: https://wordpress.com/me/account/close

    I do not have access to the site. I did go to the link you sent but the error I am getting is: “User cannot delete jetpack site via API.”

    That’s why I am here. I saw in this forum where someone else had this exact problem and someone from JetPack chimed in and disconnected it from their side. Hoping for the same to me.

    I severed the Jetpack connection for that site. In the future, you should contact Jetpack support for help with these requests.
