Old wordpress account interupting my new one
-
Hi,
I had an old wordpress website called fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com. I attempted to remove this last week and set up another site hosted with godaddy uk which uses a wordpress managed plugin. The new site is called http://www.liveempowered.co.uk.
When I am editing my new site using the wordpress manager, the old fitbuddy site seems to occasionally get in the way and prevents me from editing my current site. This happens once every 2 or 3 hours or so. It may be that my old site has not been disconnected from my username but I am not sure since it is intermittent.
Can someone help me out?
Thanks,
Clem. -
Are you logging into your self-hosted WordPress site directly (http://liveempowered.co.uk/wp-login.php)? If so, your WordPress.com site should have nothing to do with it. There is no way (from our end) that they would be connected.

I do login using that url but when I try accessing the url liveempowered.co.uk without logging in, I get an error (only on occasion for some reason) saying that “fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site”
I have deleted this site and tried setting up another wordpress site using the godaddy service but the fitbuddyblog url seems to be still associated with my account.
Any idea why?

I am sent to your self hosted site when I visit liveempowered.co.uk. In addition, I can see that the nameservers for the domain liveempowered.co.uk are pointing to your webhost and not to WordPress.com. So I highly doubt that this is a global issue (meaning that everyone trying to visit your site is experiencing it).
Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache? I suspect that it is using some old information somehow.

Thanks rootjosh. I appreciate your help. This issue seems to be very intermittent. Most of the time, I am able to access the site correctly but on a daily basis I get the wordpress error page saying “fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com has been deleted”. This has happened on other laptops other than mine too so its not a caching issue

You might check with your registrar to make sure that everything is set up correctly on their end.

Hi rootjosh,
I have just checked with both the domain and hosting teams of GoDaddy and they have confirmed that everything seems to be ok on their side. They advised me to change my login password on wordpress to see if that worked and it has not.
The site was working up until 5 minutes ago and I am now getting the error message “fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com is no longer available”. This error will probably once again disappear in approx 10 mins and I will be able to get in again. This is not just happening on my computer but in every device in my house.
Can you please tell me if there are any conflicts present on the wordpress side which are making my domain point to the wrong wordpress site?

Further to this, when I try viewing the site https://liveempowered.co.uk/wp-admin/profile.php to edit my site I get automatically directed to https://fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php
Is there any way you can help me find out why this is happening? Its getting very frustrating at this stage.

There isn’t really anything we can do from this end as it is completely out of our hands. When a domain is not registered here, we have no control over it. That control is completely at your registrar.
I am still not having trouble visiting http://liveempowered.co.uk/ and am not sent to your old WordPress.com site.
-
Sorry rootjosh but with all due respect it is a domain that was registered with WordPress associated with my current wordpress.com login that is causing the issue.
Once again, of course you are not sent to the old wordpress site because this is an intermittent issue only. As I type it has now stopped working and was working this morning.
Both WordPress and GoDaddy have claimed that everything is working perfectly but its quite obvious that the site is malfunctioning and to me, since I am getting a wordpress error page it surely means that wordpress can help fix this.

To clarify the domain I refer to in that first paragraph is fitbuddblog.wordpress.com which seems to be blocking my new domain from godaddy from appearing (intermittently)
-
I have found a receipt that may help find the route of the issue. The receipt is on my wordpress.com online billing history and is for domain mapping costing £11 on the 3rd April 2015 which was roughly the same time as when I was trying to migrate to the new site.
The domain mapping mentions “new purchase” and “fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com”. Can you tell me why the domain mapping would exist from 3rd April and if this could be causing my domain from godaddy to be pointing to an error page?

Apologies for the long chain of mails here but I am having to look into this myself since both Go Daddy and WordPress cannot.
I have found an emailed receipt received on the 3rd April from wordpress.com which has the receipt number 12542723 for a domain mapping. The domain mentioned in the receipt is liveempowered.co.uk. I can send this if needs be.
This is in conflict with the information on the online receipt of the same number on the wordpress.com site which claims the domain mapping was for fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com.
Surely this cannot be right and must be related to the issue that I am having.

Sorry rootjosh but with all due respect it is a domain that was registered with WordPress associated with my current wordpress.com login that is causing the issue.
I’m afraid that you are mistaken.
liveempowered.co.uk was mapped to WordPress.com. Domain Mapping is the upgrade that you would use if you had a domain registered with another domain registrar (GoDaddy or 1and1 for example) and wanted to use that domain with your WordPress.com account. It is an upgrade that costs £11/year.
According to the WHOIS info, liveempowered.co.uk is registered at GoDaddy. You need to contact them to work on this issue.

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re having so much trouble with this. But there really is nothing I can do on this end.
-
Actually, that’s not totally true. At the very least, what I can do is refund your purchase of Domain Mapping for the year since you are not using it. And I have done so.
-
rootjosh, I was referring to the fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com domain as clarified earlier (not liveempowered.co.uk).
Obviously we are not getting anywhere here but can you just explain why both receipts show a different domain for the domain mapping? Can you also tell me if the process of domain mapping that took place on the 3rd can be reversed or does it even matter since the site has now been deleted?
-
liveempowered.co.uk was the domain mapped to fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com. They are not separate sites in the WordPress.com system. You don’t have two different receipts, you just have two ways of saying the same thing. fitbuddyblog.wordpress.com is the WordPress.com site, liveempowered.co.uk is the domain that was mapped to it.
Can you also tell me if the process of domain mapping that took place on the 3rd can be reversed or does it even matter since the site has now been deleted?
Per my last message, I’ve already done that. I canceled the Domain Mapping upgrade and refunded your payment as it was clear you weren’t using it.
