Old wordpress website to new wordpress website

Hi Guys, I have a 6 year old word press website designed by a web designer. I now want to build a new website myself but don’t know if or how I can build my new website from my old one Ie how can i get word press to recognise that I already have a site with them from the past? Hope this makes sense!

Which currently looks quite professional. Are you wanting to close that established site down and build a new free site here yourself at WordPress.com ? I guess it could be done. If that is a WordPress.org site using “Tools” “Export” you can download the content of that site and import it into your new WordPress.com site. The theme itself wouldn’t transfer though and you would have some work to do. To find a similar theme and to re-integrate images and videos and keep the new WordPress.com site advert free you might need a paid plan.

Hi Team, similar to above, I have an old WordPress Blog, which is about six years old. I have the title, password, etc., but would now like to try and bring it under the banner of my new blog, but as a separate entity. i.e a stand alone blog, accessed from my dashboard. Can this be done ? Eek, also, just found that a newer blog has taken the same name!
