Older Comments Disappeared
-
Hello, I was recently going through older posts (from early 2015) and noticed that all the comments were missing, does wordpress delete comments on posts after the post has been up for a certain amount of time? I didn’t check all of my older posts, but I noticed it on quite a few, that’s why I’m asking. Is there a way to make sure the comments aren’t deleted?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
We never delete comments, no. If it’s on your site you own it and we don’t touch it unless it violates the Terms of Service :)
According to your site’s logs you deleted a number of comments in August last year, but nothing has been deleted since then, and the Trash folder in your comments also don’t contain any deleted comments:

Could the comments you’re missing be those you deleted back then?

Is there a way to look at my site logs? I don’t remember deleting a bunch of comments back in August of last year, and I’m about 90% positive I wouldn’t have deleted the comments in question, they were from really good friends during a tough time in my life. I don’t know if this changes your answer, but the comments were on a password protected post.

The audit logs are internal, so there’s no way for you to view them, no.
I can tell you some of the comments were by The Young Beards, Mahesh Nair, 2bcreativeblog and yourself, and there were a few anonymous comments. Our logs don’t show on which post those comments were made.
Your username deleted the comments, so if it wasn’t you it might have been someone with access to your computer. But regardless of that, it’s not possible to get them back. Th actual comments don’t exist anywhere on our system any more.
