Older P2 theme: Widgets disappeared when editing
-
I have a private site using the old-style P2 theme where I wanted to edit one of the sidebar widget titles.
When I opened the Customizer and then the widget area, I could not edit the existing widgets. Then I went to the WP Admin> Appearance> Widget area, where all my widgets were removed.
Not all removed widgets are available in the Inactive Widget area, specifically the widgets that were made for the P2 theme. You can see some of them on the demo site at https://p2demo.wordpress.com/
How can I recover my sidebar widgets?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Fotis, they were two widgets specific to the P2 theme. One was the “To Do” widget which collected and displayed those unresolved posts marked as “to do” (which I had titled “unanswered questions”) and the other was the P2 widget that appears on the P2 demo and P2breathe demo theme

Thanks for the details, @justjennifer. Our developers are already looking into this. We’ll let you know here once this has been resolved.
-
Thank you, much appreciated.
I realize this isn’t urgent for anyone but me, but should I leave the sidebar as it is for them?
-
In case someone would find this helpful, I went back through my old screenshots and found one of the P2 theme widgets on a different private site. I’ve uploaded that screenshot to the media library on demosite07. Thanks again.

Thanks, @justjennifer.
I believe it’s okay to remove the widget as the developers have pinpointed the issue and are working on a solution.
Thanks again!

Hi staff-doublebassd What widget should I remove? I didn’t add any.
When the older P2 theme widgets were removed when I navigated to WP Admin>Appearance>Widgets, the Search widget was automagically placed in the sidebar.

Apologies, I meant to say that it is okay if you do not want to leave the sidebar as is for the developers since they have identified the issue.
-
OK, thanks. I hope that also means that the developers will be able to restore the lost widgets on my site.
-
Hi @justjennifer,
The issue should be fixed already. Can you confirm everything is working as expected now?
-
Thank you so very much to the team for bringing back the P2 theme widgets! I truly appreciate everyone’s efforts. ❤
I’ll just stay away from the Appearance>Widgets dashboard then, shall I? 😊
