old/new dashboard/stats designs

New Stats seem to be a bit of an improvement once I’ve gotten used to them. The big thing that seems to be left out is ALL TIME. For some of my reporting, I like to know the cumulative numbers and not be limited to just one year at a time. Am I missing the ALL TIME numbers or have you removed it? Are you going to be implementing it? Please get it on there. Thanks.

    @rachelmcr
I know what you mean about logging out being more complicated now — you’re not the only person to mention it, and that feedback has been passed along to our team. I can’t promise that it’ll change, but we’ll certainly consider other options!

Then why make something more complicated and a whole lot less user friendly in the first place? I find the changes that have been made to be staggering in their incompetence, Would a car manufacturer design a new vehicle without lights or brakes and then claim that these were improvements? And then wait for users to notice and report back? I think not!

@sky13lade — It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying the new stats. :) Other folks have also mentioned that they miss the all-time stats, and our team is working on ways to bring those back. Please stay tuned for that!

@apetcher — I’m sorry you’re not happy with the recent changes. I see that you’ve also given feedback that @designsimply collected in this other forum thread, and the feedback from that thread has been passed along to our developers to keep in mind as they continue working on these features.

I too am not happy with the new dashboard. It was suggested to me to ‘bookmark’ the old one – how do I do that? I can’t find a bookmark option. Also, it was dead easy to log out of the old system. Can’t find that button now…. AAAArrrgggghhhh…. Also whats with the ‘beep beep bop’?

@theteachingroomscork — I see you have an ongoing support thread over here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-dashboard-layout-1

If you reply directly to that thread, Robyn can continue helping you with those questions there. :)

There is no logout button on the reader. Also, where can I find the stats from months earlier that were mentioned in my annual report? I’m pleased that several posts were most-read; however, since they’re from earlier months, I’m unable to see the exact number of hits/clicks. It would be very helpful to include this in the annual report, especially if popular posts are from months earlier (and current stats page only goes back a limited amount of days).

@nykeypad — To log out while in the Reader, you can click on your Gravatar image in the top right and use the “Sign Out” link by your username on that page.

Also, where can I find the stats from months earlier that were mentioned in my annual report?

To see stats from last year (or before), I’d recommend clicking on “Years” at the top of your stats page to see your stats per year. That’ll take you to a page like this:

    https://wordpress.com/stats/year/nykeypad.wordpress.com

You can then click, for example, on the year 2014 in the chart at the top of the page to see your overall stats for 2014. If you’re interested in the stats for specific posts, you can scroll down to the “Posts & Pages” section. Clicking on a specific post title there will give you more detailed stats about that post’s views.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

    Many thanks!!!! :)

There was a good open debate on the whole issue of ludicrous changes to WordPress but they closed it down with the arrogant statement that everything had been sorted out and addressed.
    NO IT HAD NOT!

  • Unknown's avatar

@apetcher — I’m sorry if you didn’t have a chance to finish the conversation in the previous thread about these changes. All the feedback from that thread has been passed along to our developers for consideration, but if you have additional feedback or concerns that weren’t mentioned there please feel free to add them here or start a new forum thread with additional details.

    @rachelmcr

No point really. Despite the barrage of objections to the retrograde changes no one at WP is listening.
I remain stunned at the incompetence of the developers who make changes without testing.
I remain bemused by the unhelpful responses of the ‘Happiness Engineers’ who refuse to accept the points that people make in these forums!
At the end of the day it is your product/platform/whatever and if you want to scupper it then that is you prerogative.

I see that WP have now closed off the black tool bar route to the classic dashboard and stats pages. It seems that there is a determination to force users down their own preferred menu routes. Sad.

  • Unknown's avatar

apetcher, have you tried hovering over “My Sites”, then clicking on “Stats” in the list? That should take you to the old Stats page with the map.

If you are on the old Dashboard, click on “Site Stats” and that will take you to the old, old Stats page with your own color scheme.

Or if on another administrative page, hover over “Dashboard” and then click on “Site Stats” and that will take you to the old, old Stats page with your own color scheme.

  • Unknown's avatar

I think that is the option that has been closed off within the last few hours. Getting to classic dashboard and classic stats is now even more of an obstacle course. I fear that they will be gone altogether soon!

  • Unknown's avatar

Where are you when you are trying to get to the old Stats page?

I can get there by what I wrote in the above comment. I use bookmarked links but checked before writing the comment to make sure it still worked.

If you go to your front page of your blog, hover over “My Sites”, click on either “WP Admin” or “Stats”.

  • Unknown's avatar

I start to believe that they have internal stats and don’t get used to the fact that almost everybody is using dashboard links that lead to the old stats and old dashboard. As they can’t get used to the fact, they simply remove these links. That is my impression. They are forcing us in their direction, …

But as Apetcher said, it’s their prerogative, however, I get worried about the deconstruction of WordPress and it makes me angry that they don’t care about our opinion. Sorry, but they are bigheaded.

  • Unknown's avatar

I can access the old dashboard and stats pages through the My Sites menu, though I’m not sure how much longer this will be true.

It seems like they’re trying to herd us into the new UI, awful as it is, under the guise of encouraging more “feedback.” I’ve seen few of our suggestions implemented. Meanwhile, links to the old stats page are now conspicuous by their absence.

Do none of these designers use real computers anymore?

  • Unknown's avatar

They’ve now made it more difficult to access the old stats through the My Sites menu. For those seeking a direct link to the original stats page, use this link: https://wordpress.com/my-stats/

Hopefully, they’ll leave the classic stats page up.

  • I see that WP have now closed off the black tool bar route to the classic dashboard and stats pages.

I just got a reply from staff in this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/gravatar-image-drop-down-menu?replies=3#post-2223362

Those links have just moved. They are no longer in the gravatar image drop-down on the right, but are now in the My Sites drop-down on the left. You don’t need to click anything – you can still hover the mouse over the Switch Blog option to get a list of your blogs with links to the classic dash (not the classic stats, though). For some reason it doesn’t work in the forums, but it works when viewing a blog.
