On mobile browser, Video plays without audio – no unmute button.

    Today I added a new video to the front page of our website (About BCC). The video file plays perfectly on the PC, the same video plays perfectly on the web version of our site (Chrome, Vivaldi, Firefox), but this newly added video plays without audio and no visible un/mute button on the mobile browsers (Chrome/Vivaldi).

    The only way to get the audio to work is by selecting Open in Chrome and selecting Desktop View (in the mobile browser menu).

    Other videos we added (In the Media) previously all play perfectly with audio in the mobile browser.

    My questions are:
    1) Why do the older videos play automatically with sound, no need to unmute, yet this new video must be unmuted to play on web version.

    2) Why does this newly added video play without audio on the mobile browser?

    If anyone can advise what is wrong, I’d be very grateful!

    Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host britishcounties.org on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

    To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.

    Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
