On my home page, how do I have each blog post with title and date visible?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I want to have each blog post and date listed on the right side of the home page, so viewers can click on each post and see all the recent posts listed in one place. I tried the Archives but it is just a drop down menu based on a monthly date. Does WordPress offer that feature?

    Also, when I loaded my avatar to show on the home page. There is a white bar that shows on the left side. All the other areas on the blog where my picture is posted it doesn’t do this. The bar is not in my original picture.

    Thank you

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there. There is a widget called “Recent Posts” which should satisfy your needs.

    As for the avatar, the gravatar widget adds 0.5 em padding to the left side of the image, and the theme adds a border to images on the page.

    I’ve flagged this thread for Staff to resolve the CSS issue. In the meantime, if you have purchased the Custom Design addon, you could use the following CSS to remove the border:

    .widget_gravatar img {
        border: none;
    }

    Hi fuschialand,

    That appears to be a small glitch in the Forever theme. You can fix it for now by setting your Gravatar widget alignment to either “None” or “center.”

    Thank you both. I will try to fix the gravatar. I have not purchased the custom design edition.
    In regards to the Recent Posts widget: I have installed that one. Its not showing up. On the right side of my home page it has “Blogroll” with nothing on it. What is that? Do I need to get rid of it? Is that why the Recent Posts widget isn’t showing up?
    New questions:
    On my home page, the titles of the blogs aren’t showing up. How do I fix that?
    Also, on my blog posts the “Posted On” and “By” fields are blank. I would like my name and the date to show.
    And lastly, I tried many times to get live links to post in my blogs. I tried it in the text view and the image view and every time I previewed the blog there was nothing there. I directly posted the link from the internet. I tried including www and not including www, having two “http”‘s and having one…..Not having success with that and it is a very important feature of my blog.
    I appreciate your help. Thank you.

    Hi again,

    It looks like a lot of your issues may stem from a custom setting.

    Your blog post titles and your “Posted On” and “By” fields are blank because you have changed the theme options to display a different color for links, and the color there is not appearing. Try changing that to the default and see if that works; if so, you can play around with different colors.

    This may also be why you’re having issues with inserting links, because the color won’t allow them to show up. It’s also why your blogroll and recent posts widget aren’t displaying properly.
